The Junior League of Greater Covington recently hosted their annual fundraiser, the Harvest Cup Polo Classic, and they were kind enough to invite me and a guest to the event! I have never been to a polo match, but it was everything I could have imagined and more. JLGC hosts the polo match to raise funds for events like Girls Health Day, Project Prom and Project Homecoming. There was a fabulous silent auction with everything from locally made crafts to autographed New Orleans Saints memorabilia.
So like I said, I had never been to a polo match. But I was SO excited for two reasons: (1) I knew I’d get to wear a fun hat or fascinator and (2) I wanted to stomp the divots like in the movie Pretty Woman.
When my friend, Mikala, and I showed up to the event, we were shocked at how huge this event was! There were so many people, dressed in their Sunday best, sipping on cocktails and wandering from one white tent to the next. The weather was gorgeous that day, so it seriously seemed like we were in a scene from a movie.
For my outfit, I scored a lovely floral two-piece set that was (and still is) on sale! I love the flowy, feminine vibe of the whole outfit. It felt like the perfect outfit for a polo match, and the discounted price was definitely an added bonus, ha! Click here for the top and here for the skirt. Mikala and I both got our fascinators from a wig and makeup store! But if you’re looking to order one online, Etsy seems to have a lot of options!
