I’m just going to start this blog post out by saying…. I’M SO GLAD I DID THIS!!
I’ve always heard you should start Botox around the age of 25 to prevent major wrinkles from forming down the road. And of course the night before I turned 25, I swear I noticed a million new wrinkles on my face. Specifically my forehead. Yeah maybe I was being dramatic, but I felt like it would only get worse if I didn’t start taking preventative measures.
So after some thought and research, I decided to bite the bullet and try Botox for the first time! I know there’s a lot of other girls out there who are considering Botox or something equivalent, so I wanted to write a full blog post answering all the questions I got over on Instagram.
Botox and cosmetic procedures can be a little taboo sometimes, but I started blogging so I could be a helpful resource. So I’m more than happy to be an open book about this stuff, because that’s what I’m here for! π
Let’s get into the questions….
Where did you get your Botox done?
I got my Botox done at Weiler Plastic Surgery! There are four different locations, and I went to the one in Baton Rouge on Bluebonnet. The girl who did my Botox is named Taylor and she is seriously AMAZING. Highly recommend going to them.
I did a good bit of research on the different places I could get Botox in Baton Rouge. I read online reviews, asked friends, and even asked on my Instagram stories. Weiler was recommended the most, so I figured any place with that good of a reputation must know their stuff. So glad I ended up going with them!
How many units did you get & where?
I got 30 units in my forehead, which is kind of a lot for a first timer! But according to Taylor, my forehead muscles are really strong and would need that much to see a real difference. This was mainly due to the space between my brows. Those wrinkles were already getting pretty deep, unfortunately.
Here’s the breakdown of my units:
- 16 units in the glabella (the space between the eyebrows)
- 8 units in the forehead
- 6 at the tail of my brows, to lift (so 3 on each side)
I opted to not do any for “crows feet” because I actually like the little wrinkles on the side of our eyes. For some reason I think they’re sweet! I’m sure that as I age more I’ll want to start treating those, but for now I’m leaving that area alone. It’s mainly just my forehead that was needing some preventative love!
When I went in for my two week follow up appointment, Taylor was actually kind of shocked that I still had a good bit of movement in my forehead. So basically, I have some freakin strong forehead muscles if they’re still moving after 30 units. She asked if I wanted a few more units to touch it up but I decided not to because I like a little movement.
How much does it cost?
When I was researching all the different aesthetics places in Baton Rouge, it seems like the average cost (in this area) is around $11-13 per unit. Weiler charges $13/unit. So for my 30 units, the price was $390.
Did it hurt?
Not at all! I have an incredibly low pain tolerance, so I expected it to hurt a liiiiittle even though most people say it doesn’t. But it was totally fine.
I had some anxiety going into it, so I asked for a stress ball to squeeze… and they handed me a breast implant π. And they also had one of the assistants hold a vibrating stick against my forehead, which essentially “distracted” me from the pinch of the injection.
Did you have bruising?
No bruising at all! The only real “effect” is that you will get little welps at the injection sites, but it goes away in about 10 minutes. It looks a little crazy at first, but they were totally gone by the time I drove home.
Will you get it again?
Definitely! I’ll get it again before my wedding next year π I love how smooth it made my forehead! So I definitely want it to look like this for all my wedding photos.
If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask me! You can DM me on Instagram or leave a comment here. More than happy to help π
Thanks so much for reading & happy weekend!
