We are officially less than 4 months away from THE BIG DAY!!
Wedding planning is obviously in full swing right now, and there are still so many decisions left to make. I want to start sharing little snippets along the way to document the process and hopefully be helpful to any other brides-to-be!
So for my first official wedding planning blog post, let’s chat about…
The Date & Venue
We will be tying the knot on 7.10.2021! Christian and I are so so excited!
The wedding will be in New Orleans because it’s a city that’s so special to us. We’ve had so many fun date days there, it’s where he proposed (full blog post on that here if you want to read about it), and now it will be where we get married!
Deciding on the perfect venue was the first thing we had to tackle. I knew I wanted the venue to have a European feel (preferably French or Italian), and that wasn’t too difficult to find since NOLA is heavily influenced by European architecture and design. And Christian wanted a venue that was bright and cheerful, so it couldn’t look too Old World European. So we had to find a compromise there.
I also wanted to choose a venue that had not been done by a bunch of other couples already. There’s a handful of popular venues in New Orleans that I do really love, but I wanted our guests to experience a venue that they (most likely) had not been to before.
So ultimately, we decided our venue should be…. [redacted].
Sorry guys, don’t hate me 😅 It’s a long story, but basically I found my dream ceremony venue through a fashion magazine feature before Christian and I were even engaged. It fit the vision I had in my head perfectly. BUT the catch is… they don’t actually allow weddings. There’s been a few couples who were able to pull strings to have their wedding here, but their general rule is no weddings.
I didn’t think I had any strings to pull to make it happen, so we started touring other venues in New Orleans. (One of the venues was Marigny Opera House, which is the building you see behind Christian & I in that photo above.) But when I started working with our amazing wedding planner, she said she could actually make my original dream venue happen. I couldn’t believe how perfectly it worked out! The team at Ruby & Pearl Events (a subset of Sapphire Events) is seriously the best!
HOWEVER, there was a stipulation: the venue asked that I do not disclose the name on social media or my blog. Mainly because they don’t want to be advertised as a wedding venue, which I completely understood. So please bare with me not being able to share that with you guys! You will be able to see it in all the wedding photos though, so stay tuned for July 10th 🙂
The Design Inspo
Like I mentioned above, I wanted our wedding to have a European feel. Once we nailed down our venue, we decided to channel a “south of France” vibe. The Ruby & Pearl team gave a fabulous design presentation, and I wanted to share a few sneak peeks with you!
These are just some screen grabs from the design inspo presentation, not the exact details of the wedding. We are doing our own spin on a lot of things. Just wanted to give you a glimpse into the design direction, since that’s one of the fun parts of wedding planning!
Next week I’ll share more wedding details like finding my dress, our photographer, etc.! Can’t wait to see all of it come together in July! And thank you so so much for reading today’s post 🙂
